“The mind is a powerful force. It can enslave us or empower us. It can plunge us into the depths of misery or take us to the heights of ecstasy.” David Cuschieri Change is imminent – these are unprecedented times. All around our great Australian nation the Wuhan virus (Covid-19) has unleashed unforeseen circumstances and created unanticipated changes in our lives. All “non-essential” businesses have closed their doors, all sporting events have been cancelled, parliaments have been suspended, and our schools have been emptied. Gatherings of any kind have now been deemed unlawful; life as we knew it has irrevocably changed. If we’re not vigilant of the games our mind plays on us our thoughts can become negative, thus we’re plunged in to the depths of misery.
Australia is not alone however; the whole world has come to a shuddering halt. For many, it can become too easy to get caught up in fear and negativity when we’re constantly assailed with the news of hundreds, and in some countries thousands of souls impacted by Covid19. Unfortunately, making matters worse is the fact we have no idea how long we will be sidelined or what the implications will be long term. However, despite the induced hysteria, the majority of us are staying on track, following the health directives to the best of our ability.
Interestingly, it’s times like these that we have an opportunity to reflect on what is good in our lives. For those of us who are willing to contemplate this, we can use these unforeseen circumstances to halt the busyness of our lives and reflect and reconnect with aspects of our lives we might have previously neglected. After all, no matter how powerless we might feel in our circumstances, we need to keep believing that hope is on the horizon. All the challenges, obstacles, and setbacks that have held us back are part and parcel of our impending destiny!
The enormity of what’s happening around the world, and the economic toll that is quickly evolving is profound. Through no fault of our own we are all being impacted in some way, be it financially, self-isolating in our homes or forced quarantine elsewhere away from family or loved ones. Perhaps, if we are able to reframe this negative situation we might see it as a positive opportunity to realign our lives - to make our future, both personal and worldwide, more meaningful. Perhaps it is our chance to reconnect with our family in a deeper way. A chance to realise our love and commitment to each other – to grow and seek to find our place in the new order of things.
For those of us who believe in an infinite spirit, and a higher angelic power, we can call on Archangel Michael whose chief function is to rid us of any fear or negative energy holding us back from our highest potential. That doesn’t mean we should discount the negative aspects of the situation, we still have to do our part in the scheme of things. Since the beginning of time there have been countless negative events rained down on the people, each one overcome with faith, optimism, resilience and courage. If we can hold fast and support those less fortunate than ourselves the positive influences can once again sweep in resetting our way forward. Is this a forced awakening of epic proportions, both personal and planetary? Perhaps! Are we being shown that we need to look at ourselves and our actions and decide we can do better? Perhaps too this is an opportunity for us to reawaken our innate goodness, to reconnect with our spiritual core. The last few years while toiling away writing my life story I’ve had the opportunity to reflect on my life journey and reflect on the positives and negatives of my life.
This current situation had rekindled my feelings of deep gratitude for the many people who have contributed in some way to the many successes and failures I’ve experienced along the way. And too, I feel grateful for my innate strength and resilience, and my ability to access a higher power in times of need. Now, as before, I call on my inner strength and faith to keep me free of negative thought patterns while offering a positive essence to those around me. Although we’re presently surrounded by fear and uncertainty, there are many people who are willingly reaching out and offering a helping hand to others. I urge those of you who are feeling weighed down by what is now surrounding you to hold fast and not lose faith. Accept the offers of help and kindness from those who are only too ready to come to your aid.
I have faith in the essential goodness within all of us. I believe it is at times such as these that we are challenged and given the opportunity to step up and shine our light. Yes, I believe there is a purpose to every adversity even though we may not know the purpose while we are immersed within it. When adversity rears its ugly head, we must stand firm offering love and light toward our magnificent home and those who reside within her. May we all transcend these unwelcome challenges ahead and come out the other end having learned to love and accept ourselves and others more fully.
